In 1975, Dave Boivin turned professional as a
member of the Canadian PGA. His two decades of diversified experience in the
golf industry has led him to serve as a golf professional at private,
semi-private and public golf courses. His comprehensive golf knowledge includes
experience as the sales and marketing representative for Daiwa golf in Western
Canada and as a certified club fitter with Titleist and Cobra.
Dave’s primary focus over the past several
years has been teaching. Under senior PGA tour professional Ted Naff, Dave has
worked with LPGA and Nike tour players. Upon joining the Interbay’s teaching
staff in 1998, Dave was certified as a Colbert/Ballard instructor by Jimmy
Ballard himself. Dave also credits Fred Shoemaker, author of Extraordinary Golf
and his experience as a "Fit for Golf" instructor as strong influences
toward his teaching philosophy. His inquisitive and well-rounded approach to the
game includes the perspective that better skills are developed through increased
physical and mental awareness.
Through his passion for coaching, Dave has
developed a wide range of programs, including junior golf camps, corporate golf
schools, women’s clinics, coaching-for-couples, business convention
instruction and teaching the blind and physically challenged. Dave is also an
AAA High School golf coach.
The most important thing Dave tries to convey
to his students is to have fun and maintain a positive attitude. Asked most any
day how he feels and he is likely to say, "Bordering on the fine line
between great and excellent".
