Steve’s golf career has spanned twenty-five
years, nine of which have been as a PGA professional. His passion for the game
goes back to his childhood. His high school and college career was highlighted
by several victories in state tournaments and championships. Steve held the
scoring record at the Juanita golf course before it closed. His best competitive
round was a 63 and his best one season scoring average was 69.
Steve was the primary instructor in the Puget
Sound region for Jimmy Ballard and Jim Colbert before becoming Interbay Family
Golf Center’s first head professional. Steve has taught some of this area’s
top players, including PGA Tour player Jon Lindstrom, two-time Washington Open
and Canadian Tour player Todd Erwin, and Nike Tour player Dean Gerry. From
teaching many PGA and LPGA instructor’s in the area to beginners Steve enjoys
passing his knowledge of the golf swing onto others in an easy to understand and
fun manner.
Steve has built a reputation as a top teacher
emphasizing strong fundamentals and proper equipment selection. The popularity
of his highly regarded junior camps and programs created many long waiting
lists. In 1993, he achieved his PGA class A status. His knowledge of the golf
swing is published in various golf-related articles and he has appeared several
times on Northwest Cable News.
